geological correlations

walking lecture / site sensitive collective reading exercise | 2019

Arbroath Hospitalfield Summer School 2019: »wild orchards will overgrow us« // curated by Anastasia Philimonos & Panos Kompatsiaris // in collaboration with Tahani Nadim

The performative and participatory walk "geological correlations" creates space for a "site-specific reading of environments" and focuses on a narrative cartography of the history, present and possible future of Arbroath. It includes a series of readings that relate "situated histories" to "interwoven histories", allowing participants to actively relate the environment, histories, texts, bodies to the geological history of the Arbroath area; thus critically examining and discussing the geological concept of the Anthropocene from multiple perspectives.

Texts from science, science fiction, human sciences and poetry are combined with physical sensory perception, visual impressions and imagination exercises.
